New Section 232 Investigation into Medical Equipment
The Department of Commerce launched a new Section 232 investigation into imports of a wide range of goods, including personal protective equipment (PPE), medical devices, robotics, and industrial machinery. These probes, opened September 2, 2025, could lead to higher tariffs on items such as face masks, syringes and other essential medical supplies. The investigation also covers advanced medical equipment like pacemakers, MRI machines, and more.
The department is seeking public input by October 17, 2025 and a federal register notice is scheduled for publication tomorrow, September 26.
