Section 232 Tariffs on Lumber, Upholstered Furniture and Cabinets

A proclamation signed Sept. 29 announced the implementation of Section 232 tariffs on lumber, upholstered furniture and cabinets starting October 14.

New tariffs effective Oct. 14, 2025:
- 10% on softwood timber and lumber
- 25% on upholstered wood products, will increase to 30% in 2026
- 25% on kitchen cabinets and vanities, will increase to 50% in 2026

UK will not exceed 10%, while the combined Section 232 tariff and most-favored nation tariff on wood imports from the EU and Japan will not exceed 15%. For more information on tariff subheadings subject to the increased tariffs, please refer to the annex provided in the proclamation.

We will continue to monitor and provide additional details when guidance is released from U.S. Customs and Border Protection.
