A proclamation signed Sept. 29 announced the implementation of Section 232 tariffs on lumber, upholstered furniture and cabinets starting October 14. 

• New tariffs effective Oct. 14, 2025:

  • 10% on softwood timber and lumber

  • 25% on upholstered wood products, will increase to 30% in 2026

  • 25% on kitchen cabinets and vanities, will increase to 50% in 2026

UK will not exceed 10%, while the combined Section 232 tariff and most-favored nation tariff on wood imports from the EU and Japan will not exceed 15%. For more information on tariff subheadings subject to the increased tariffs, please refer to the annex provided in the proclamation.
