The U.S. Customs and Border Protection bulletins below provide detailed guidance on the additional 25% tariffs on steel and aluminum which go into effect tomorrow 3/12/25.These changes introduce a 25% additional tariff on aluminum and steel products from all countries, with specific exclusions and requirements outlined in the bulletins. Notably, the tariffs will apply to derivative aluminum and steel articles, with some exceptions for materials processed in other countries from U.S.-sourced aluminum or steel. ALUMINUM & DERIVATIVES (90 FR 980790 FR 11251):

  • CSMS # 64384496 provides guidance on applying the additional 25% duty on imported aluminum articles and derivative aluminum articles from all counties effective 3/12/25.
  • Review the CSMS message for details on reporting the primary and secondary country of smelt and country of cast.

STEEL & DERIVATIVE (90 FR 9817 & 90 FR 11249):

  • CSMS # 64384423 provides detailed guidance on applying the additional 25% duty on imported steel articles and derivative steel articles from all counties effective 3/12/25.
  • Importers must provide the country of melt and pour for both steel and steel derivatives.
