President Trump signed a proclamation increasing tariffs on steel and aluminum imports (and their derivative articles) from 25% to 50%, effective June 4, 2025 at 12:01am ET.
UK Exception: Imports from the United Kingdom will remain at 25% under the new U.S.-UK Economic Prosperity Deal (EPD). However, if the UK fails to meet EPD terms by July 9, 2025, tariffs may be raised.
Regardless of previous proclamations or executive orders, the non-steel and non-aluminum parts of imported steel and aluminum products will still be subject to tariffs under Executive Order 14257 and any other applicable duties.
We will continue to monitor and provide updates as we receive further guidance from U.S. Customs and Border Protection. These regulations are subject to change so please reach out to your Mallory Alexander representative or our M-PACT team for further assistance with any questions related to calculating tariffs by HTS code.
