25% Tariff Announced on Heavy Truck Imports

President Trump announced a 25% tariff on imported medium- and heavy-duty trucks, effective November 1, 2025. The move follows a Section 232 investigation under the Trade Expansion Act.

The tariff is expected to primarily impact imports from Mexico, which supplies most U.S.-bound heavy trucks under the USMCA framework. Vehicles meeting regional content requirements will remain tariff-free, but non-qualifying imports, even from USMCA partners, may face the new 25% duty.

This announcement has not been formalized through official U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) guidance. Mallory Alexander is monitoring for official publication and will provide additional updates as details become available.
