Air Canada Cargo Disruption Risk

The Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE), which represents 10,000 flight attendants at Air Canada and Air Canada Rouge, issued notice and will go on strike on Saturday as negotiations for a new contract continue to be stalled.

Air Canada has begun canceling flights that normally carry significant bellyhold freight to Europe and Asia which could disrupt international cargo capacity. The cargo division will continue to operate, however, new bookings for certain commodities are temporarily on hold, and existing shipments may be delayed or cancelled. Shipments not moved before Saturday risk being stranded in warehouses. We recommend planning ahead and monitoring for updates, as delays or service reductions are likely until the labor dispute is resolved.
