Canada & Mexico Tariff Updates
An executive order was signed raising tariffs on Canadian imports from 25% to 35%, effective August 1, 2025. Goods under USMCA remain exempt, but transshipped goods will face a 40% tariff. U.S. Customs released additional guidance and HTS code updates in CSMS #65798609.
President Trump also announced a 90-day negotiation period with Mexico following a call with President Claudia Sheinbaum, during which the 25% tariffs will remain in effect.
We will continue to monitor any changes and share further details when official guidance is released by U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP). These regulations are subject to change, so please reach out to your Mallory Alexander representative or our M-PACT team for assistance with any questions related to calculating tariffs by HTS code.
