New Process for Adding Auto Parts to Section 232 Tariffs

On September 17, 2025, the Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS) issued an interim final rule establishing an inclusion process to add automobile parts to Section 232 tariffs.

Key details:

Submission windows open four times a year: January, April, July, and October.
The first window opens October 1, 2025.
Domestic producers can submit inclusion requests via AutoInclusions@trade.gov.
After review, non-confidential requests will be posted for 14 days for public comment.
A final decision will be issued within 60 days, including the rationale.
The rule is effective immediately, with a comment period open until November 3, 2025.
